VIC - ARALUEN - LAND OF LAGOONS

The Araluen Valley is spotted with beautiful lagoons the water lilies grow freely and once formed a staple article of food for the natives prior to the Gold Rush Days.

Before goldmining, there were a number of lagoons in the valley, where water lilies grew freely. Spectacular views of this valley, known as the “Valley of Peace”, can be seen from the road down the mountain from Braidwood into the village, and these have long been an inspiration to artists and writers.

The historic pub is a popular place to hear the local yarns and legends from the gold rush days.

The primitive camping area and lots of orchards to buy fresh fruit entice many to stay a while and try their luck fossicking for gold or just savour this beautiful, peaceful valley.
