QLD - ISISFORD - LAND OF HEROES

Isisford is a step into cultures as old as Australia itself, a land of heroes, rascals, pioneers and poets!

Isisford has been the scene of many adventures, some of which have passed into lore, like the story of the infamous cattle duffer Harry Redford, known to millions as Captain Starlight.

Here, survival, innovation and change have wrought little impact into this diverse landscape, yet it still provides a rich and unique experience for all those who see it.

Isisford is unspoilt, full of memories of history and culture combined with the legendary Aussie hospitality.

Isisford is an 'over the ridge', raw and undiluted outback experience. The township was settled in the shade of the Barcoo coolibahs in the mid-1800's and now displays a variety of architecture reflecting the unique Australian pioneering lifestyle.

There is a peaceful watercourse just a few minutes walk from town with barbeque facilities.

The Barcoo weir is an ideallic camping area with birds and other wildlife going about their daily routine. The river is a popular spot to cool off or fish from.

Other accommodation include hotels with true country hospitality and great meals.
