NSW - MONGARLOWE - UNSPOILT RIVER AND MOUNTAIN COUNTRY

Mongarlowe is a tiny village once a busy goldmining town in the boom years nearly 150 years ago.

The layout of the 1850’s village is largely intact, with several buildings surviving, numerous planted exotic vegetation from the 19th century and many archaeological mining sites

Originally known as “Little River”, the town has much evidence of the goldrush days and Chinese goldmining sites and settlements.

Today, there are pastoral properties with cattle and alpacas, artists, craftspeople and goldsmiths, all living in harmony with nature.

Many are attracted to the beautiful unspoilt river and mountain scenery, and by the adjacent Budawang National Park.
