NSW - SINGLETON - HEART OF THE HUNTER VALLEY

SINGLETON is the geographic heart of the magnificent Hunter Valley in New South Wales. It is also the heart of the Hunter Valley wine producing area.

It can boast to being home to Wyndham Estate Winery the oldest winery still producing top vintage wines in Australia. The emerging Broke Fordwich wine growing area is only in its infancy yet its vineyards are producing medal wining boutique wines. Come, try and buy you won't be disappointed.

SINGLETON is one of the oldest regional towns in Australia. It's white heritage goes back to 1820. The Singleton district can boast about its well kept historic buildings many of which are still in use. The town's three museums will give you an insight into the influences of Agriculture, the Church and the Royal Australian Infantry on the development of Singleton over the past 180 years.

SINGLETON is a place of contrasts where agriculture, viticulture, mining and the power industry sit side by side. There are significant contrasts within in the power generating industry itself with coal generation power stations and the new concept of green power harnessed at the solar panel complex. Gone are the days of the pick and shovel being the tools of trade of the miner. Now machines of dinosaur proportions move tonnes of earth and coal. Tours to these modern day mechanical Jurassic parks can be arranged. Tours are also available to inspect hi-tech wineries.
