The atmosphere in this small town is one of warm country friendship as the excitement builds towards the balloon glow and fabulous fireworks.

Canowindra for those enthused with heritage tourism, Gaskill Street, Canowindra, presents a streetscape of outstanding historical significance. The streetscape is created by a combination of the street's unusual shape, unaffected over the years complete with late nineteenth century architecture. Such informal main streets are rare in New South Wales.

Those buildings with greater historic and architectural interest tend to be located at prominent focal points, creating outstanding views and vistas together with the more modest commercial buildings of the 1920's and 1930's also adding value to the streetscape. The parapets and awnings connect the grander buildings of earlier periods and creates an exceptionally delightful main street.

The Age of Fishes Museum is another outstanding example of the delights of this town. This world class museum features rare fish fossils of the area.
