NSW - CUDAL - in CABONNE COUNTRY

Cudal is a neat town situated 40 kilometres west of Orange in the heart of Cabonne Country, lying in a reliable and beautiful farming district producing wool, fat lambs, cattle, wheat and canola as it's major outputs.

A recent additional rural activity in the Cudal district is viticulture and associated wine making. Already vines are producing and construction of two wineries is well under way - the larger of which, estimated to cost $30 million, is being built by Cabonne Limited to the south of the town to service regional vineyards.

In Manildra, sixteen kilometres west, the largest flour mill in the Southern Hemisphere is currently being expanded.

Both towns have been listed for Government subsidy leading to the provision of sewerage infrastructure, which should be operational in about three years. This will be of benefit to the present population and will attract future development.

The major regional airline of New South Wales, Hazelton Airlines, has until recently had it's headquarters in Cudal, but management changes have seen only the maintenance of it's SAAB fleet remaining at Cudal Airport. Local travellers now catch the 45 minute flights to Sydney out of Orange Airport.

Road travel to Sydney takes a little over three and a half hours depending on the suburb of destination.

The town is served by a preschool and an excellent primary school. Existing bus services take secondary students to either Canowindra High School or a selection of High Schools in Orange.

Sporting facilities cater for lawn bowls, cricket, tennis, rugby, swimming and soccer. Golfers, depending on their preferences, play on grass greens in Orange or Canowindra or on sand greens at the closest course in Manildra.

Cudal enjoys it's Music and Dramatic Society and supports the activities of the Cudal - Cargo and District Lions Club. Cudal has an active Hospital Auxiliary and branches of Red Cross and Country Women's Association.

Accommodation is available at the Cudal Motel and at the Royal Hotel, which has been completely refurbished. An attractive caravan park is also available.

Our community relies on the city of Orange for such cultural activities as visits by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and productions by the Arts Council of New South Wales. Orange stages an annual eisteddfod and has a quality Art Gallery and is the base for two highly regarded choirs.

The people of Cudal and district have long been strong on 'self help', having raised considerable funds towards the provision of the hospital, the doctor's residence/surgery, the 25 metre swimming pool and the Aged Units.
